Continuing to learn Ray Roberts

Posted by ken on August 10, 2014

If my website never leads to anything other than connecting with old friends it's 100% worth it! Had a friend I've know over 20 years but had lost contact with Brad McNulty reconnect through the website and since we still both love Marty Robbins music and bass fishing we spent Sunday on Ray Bob. Catching up was great fun, catching fish, unfortunately was another matter altogether. We spent most of the day up the creeks on the north east end of the lake. Water continues to get clearer each time I go up. We probably spent way too much time up shallow, and by shallow I mean <12 feet fishing wood and grass and really only caught a couple of small fish. Late in the day we did a little boat riding down around the dam and we idled over some fish on a main lake point. I originally tried to reach them with a Strike King 6XD but only drew water. First cast with a 6th Sense 500 DD, in the, and I love saying this...Sexified Shad, drew something much bigger and much stronger than water. Let's just say we have a new waypoint on the main lake at RR

Rayburn Video #5 added - Powell to Veach

Posted by ken on July 30, 2014

We added the 5th in our series of Rayburn navigation aid videos today. This one features the north shore of the Angelina arm from Powell Park up to Veach basin. It includes a waypoint in the middle of the timber in front of Five Fingers as well as a series of waypoints around the timber in the mouth of Veach.

Ray Roberts....who knew???

Posted by ken on July 27, 2014

I'd been on RR twice before, the day it opened, which if I recall correctly was January 1st and it was really cold. And then I took some friends over for some sand bass fishing a couple summers ago. Now that some larger tournaments are showing regularly I decided Sunday to go look it over...

Weekend on Fork with a Moonpie

Posted by ken on July 13, 2014

Fork sat.jpgSpent the weekend on Fork with Steve "Moonpie" Evans, overall really tough on us. No matter how hard we tried we could not get any fish to rise to a bait on a consistent basis. There were, believe it or not in July, some spinnerbait fish to be caught, but overall we had our best success catching suspended fish. I think the BassChamps results reflected that Fork was tough on us all this weekend as it only took 4.94 on a 3 fish tournament with 189 teams to cash a check. From the results it looked like 10 fish over were caught, which does seem a fair number for 350 fisherman, but less than sixty 3 fish limits caught. And by the way, congrats to two guys, don't know them, Jesse and Jeremy Flake, from North Zulch Tx, for weighing 3 keepers that weighed a grand total of 1.46 lbs... unfortunately there are no photos on the website of that stringer.
